FAQ

MOV-ER is a six-month acceleration program for eight deep-tech startups building the future of mobility on land, air, and water.
Rooted in Emilia-Romagna—the ultimate mobility territory and the heart of Motor Valley—the program connects startups, corporates, and investors to bridge the gap between lab testing and real-world industrial validation. MOV-ER acts as a catalyst for the next mobility revolution, driving joint Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and open innovation across companies with a deep-seated culture of making.

The selection process is open, transparent, and structured. Startups are evaluated based on their team quality, innovative content, market potential, business model solidity, and technology readiness (minimum TRL 4). Priority is given to projects with high potential for industrial application and collaboration with regional companies.

MOV-ER is open to innovative startups, innovative SMEs (PMI innovative), and highly technological entrepreneurial teams operating in the advanced mobility sector (land/urban, air, or water).

TRL 4 (Technology Readiness Level 4) means that your technology is no longer just a theoretical concept. It has been validated in a laboratory or testing environment and is mature enough to start real-world industrial validation and Proof of Concept (PoC) development with corporate partners.

The core acceleration services (mentoring, workshops, coaching, and matchmaking) are fully covered by the program. However, startups selected for the international Tech Mission will receive a voucher to cover travel expenses (available for up to 4 highly mature startups); others may join at their own expense.

Not at the time of application. However, to participate in the program, startups must be incorporated or establish an operational headquarters (sede operativa) in the Emilia-Romagna region either before the program starts or within 30 days of its kick-off.

Regional manufacturing companies and corporates can participate in the Open Innovation track. They can share their technological challenges, access a curated pool of deep tech startups, and collaborate directly to co-develop and test Proof of Concepts (PoCs) in real-world industrial environments.
